The Practice

Practice & Approach

The practice is organised around matters that require close engagement with Kerala's property and succession framework, the Commercial Court and the Kerala High Court, and the particular legal needs of Non-Resident Indians managing property and family affairs in Kerala from abroad.

The office accepts matters in defined practice areas — NRI property and succession, commercial disputes and arbitration, property due diligence and transactions, estate planning and probate, and the drafting and enforcement of commercial agreements and technology-related contracts. The practice is built around depth of expertise rather than breadth of coverage.

NRI clients engage the office for matters that require a legally competent, locally present and communicative representative in Kerala. Consultations are available by video call and email across time zones. Local representation in Kerala is arranged through a registered Power of Attorney where required.

Handling Matters for NRIs and Overseas Clients

A significant portion of the practice serves Non-Resident Indians and Overseas Citizens of India managing legal matters in Kerala from abroad. Property transactions, succession proceedings, estate administration, Power of Attorney execution, FEMA compliance, revenue record mutations, and related documentation are handled entirely through correspondence and structured remote engagement.

Clients are not required to travel to India for most matters. Transactions and proceedings that do not require personal appearance are managed through a duly executed Power of Attorney or through correspondence under established procedures. Where court appearances or registrations require the client's physical presence, the office advises clearly on what cannot be avoided and what can be handled through authorised representation.

The approach to NRI matters is structured around clarity of process: what documents are required, what the procedure involves at each stage, what the realistic timeline is, and what decisions require the client's direct instruction. This structure reduces the uncertainty and delay that characterise many cross-border legal matters when the client cannot be present.

Initial enquiry is by email or by appointment. A formal engagement letter setting out the scope, the process, the applicable law, and the fee structure is provided before any work commences.
